We are still camped with friends at The New Year Rally at Brandy Wharf. Our friends Shane and Sally have been having big problems with their electricity supply to their RV. This worries us in that whilst we would love the space of an RV we would not like to have these problems if we changed our Euramob for one. We are also concerned of course for Shane and Sally and their two boys Mathew and Jake but they are ok as Duncan and Chris who run RV mechanics Starspanngledspanner have lent them a generator.
I have decided to suggest to Shona that we spend an extra few days up here in the North of England and get the damp problem looked at by Magnums in Grimsby. On the way back we will also source the upholstery people in Nottingham and also see Van Comfort about getting the silver screens put right.
We are now at Brandy Wharf in Lincolnshire with friends from MHF for The New Year Break. On the way here we stopped off for a couple of days at Dougie and Mags lovely farm just down the rd from here. When I have a faster connection I will post a few photographs of Jessica and their sheep.
Last night I think we had our worst ever nights sleep in the Euramob thanks to a really strong wind. Seems to have died down now thankfully
Its Boxing Day night and we have had an enjoyable Christmas at my mums. Yesterday our eldest son David who is now into his fourth year training as a chef made us fantastic lunch. Jessica loved getting her presents and played with them all.
One day to Christmas day. Popped into town to get Shona’s surprise. Daniel came with me and we were amazed how quiet it was. Shona and Jessica are busy doing women’s work – the laundry run lol.
Mum.s birthday is actually on the 24th but we all got together today at a pub called the QueenB to have lunch. Meal was a bit of a dissappointment but it was nice to see everyone, with only David missing who was working
Daniel arrived whilst Jessica was still asleep. I reckon his voice must have woken her and she woke with a big smile, recognising who he is
Got rid of the cold but the cough is lasting a bit longer. Shona has left to collect Daniel who is going to spend Christmas with us. Jessica and I have been cleaning the van, filling up with water and we went to get a new 13kg of calor gas – £19.24, it seems to up every week.
Well not quite but suddenly the trip switch on the campsite’s box started to go. I inspected everything and discovered the electrical cable socket had melted where it goes into the post. Shona has gone over to buy a new cable and we will plug into another socket. Were we drawing too much power, was it that the cable was curled (loosely) or something else.
We were woken up this morning by David who obviously had been out for a drink last night and urgently needed a lift to pick his car up. Shona, the dutiful mum got dressed and shot out. When we are off traveling I wonder what he will do .
Our plans are materialising for next year. I think we we aim to spend February in Spain. Then we will adopt a pattern of working hard for a month followed by a two week travel holiday. I would like to get to Scotland, Wales and Ireland next year.
We have the silver screens in use and it certainly makes a big difference to the living environment which is lucky as it went down to -6 last night brrrrrrrr. Jessica’s cold is getting better now she has given it to her dad who took calpol this morning, mistaking it for day nurse.
The hairdressers looked like a silver carpet after the haircut but it was worth it. Looking forward to seeing Daniel on Sunday who is coming back from Uni for Christmas. David has Christmas day so we will have the whole family around us – great.
